I have decided to choose places and spaces for my exam. i have decided to choose this as i felt i enjoyed takeing these styles of photography more then the others. I have found throughout my work that i have been the most confident in producing work with this type of photography from the others. i found that the other types were not going to be best to do as it doesn’t fit with me and how i like to capture photos. Another reason i choose this piece is because i find taking photographs of the environment the surrounding nature more serial as you may only be able to take the photo you want at a pacific time if that be snow on the trees you may only be able to capture this in the winter where during summer you can photograph the golden sunset as it sets. This was a main reason why i chose this as these types of photographs can be seen as a time challenge on getting this photo before the climate changes.
Nicolas Goodden
The artist i was inspired by was Nicolas Goodden i found his photographs very detailed as he had photos of places in London where part of it was in black and but part of it was in colour. His photos was the one that caught my eye as it was different from the rest as part of it was black and white and the other part was coloured i liked it as even without the added colour the photo would still look nice. Goodden style of photography is street photography, this type of photography captures the smaller details of a day to day life. He takes his photos by using a flying drone camera, this is completely different to any other photographer and takes it in his own way.
Single image evaluateion
This is my favourite photo of his set this photo is compromised of a photo of London landscape, from inside a train station however what makes the photo stand out is that the photo was in black and white however it still had colour. i found this interesting as the photo still had its element of colour. this has inspired my work as i would like to try and use this thecnique and uses this for my photos. However this may show to be a problem as i would have to find out how to create this effect within my own photos. This photo was taken to show the transaction of london, this photo emphasises how london can be shown, even in these shades of colour it still can be seen as as this abstract art even though you can tell what its meant to show. The effect the photo has today is that it show how small parts london can be show in different limegights from a dull train station this show how a photo can be elivated by colour
these photos were taken at various different places i tried to experiment with the surrounding light i had to work with what i had as i had been busy that week. These photos were inspired by the topic of places and spaces these were taken in inspiration as i tried to uses the sapce in a different way not getting to close but yet to far. the lighting worked well as the sky went with well with environmental as well, this makes the photo look more vibrant. as its been getting darker later its been that bit easier to take the photos, i liked the composition of the phots of the darker sky with the lights lighting it up .
I looked at the images first and liked the images which were taken in and around areas of London which were tourist spots. I decided to select these images to work with. I was partly inspired by the artist in selecting colours and also wanted to experiment with a digital form of manipulating the images. I decided to use Canva to create this as I have experimented with it before and found it fun to use. My intention was to create different colour schemes by editing these photos it gives a brighter and newer photo then to what the original was.
these photos have been composed differently to what i had taken last time. I have tried to stay round my area for this this time this gives the contrast from the last set of photos as they were taken from around the 02. With these photos i have tried to use the effect of the lighting howver this proved to be a problem as the weather had a effect with the lighting during the day. The lighting of the photo shows to play a massive role as the fewer photos during the dark i feel are better as the lights are much more brighter giving more depf to the photos
Ansel Adams
Ansel Adams takes his photos of environmental landscapes. He takes these photos by using various different lens cameras to capture the maximum details. Adams uses a technique called the zone system. This creates the atmosphere that the photo is fully zoomed in but still leaving the full affect of the photo. This shows that the photo is the subject of the photo but still leaving the foreground in focus. These photos look a lot more surreal that its edited into black and white I feel as if the photos have a deeper meaning behind them these photos show much more like with the sutler reflection of the mountain in the water. Smaller details like this can make the difference in a good photo to a great photo its not just showing what we can all ready see but more with the reflection its flipped its mirroring the photo but still connecting
this was my first attempt of making a concertina book. i printed of both images in colour and black and white however i would have done this differently. I now would have printed double sided this would take away the problem of the photos not being cut straight. this would leave the photo being full and clear. This would have been better as both of the colour and non coloured photo would be full and a clear. As this is a first try im not to disappointed to how it looks I could have made the photos the same size however the layout of the is nice the folded out design is neat I would uses that same design but have the photos printed double sided so when folded back up there's photos both sides and the image is full.
These photographs were taken in the local area. I looked around and I looked at places that are familiar to me. Some of the images are places that I visited but the images are fences, houses, sunsets etc create more of a urban landscape this creates a familiar atmosphere.
here i have created a popout book with using my photos. I have taken my photos and have printed them back to back this leaves a different image on both sides. i had to make small folds into the paper first and glue them together after glueing them togethere i had to create another set of folds in them and that led to this pop out design. however you havd to have made the folds precise if there not been folded correctly the photos wont create that design.
This was my second attempt of trying to create a foldout pop up book I used different photos for this one and used A3 paper instead of A4 this made the photos bigger and that meant ones it was finished the pop out would be bigger and longer. Personally I felt as if the A4 works that bit better as the folds were smaller and I felt it gave a more neater look, the bigger one Is still good you can see more of the photo even when folded.
Final Piece plan
For my final piece I I intend to use some of the same techniques I have previously used before. My intensions for my final piece I am planing on making a sculpture and to uses my pre existing photos for this I have thought about it and I may uses the same technique I used previously in the video above as this will show a different development of this skill. If I still have the time I may also create a book but make the design different on the card that I would be using. To create a border of card around while having my photos glued to the card sort of like a open box and inside would be a book with my photos inside I would like it if the book was perched up onto instead of just resting onto something. If I am able to execute this idea I think it will come out really well with the surrounding images letting for the inside to be the book inside. I would like my book to show of my previous skills i have learned and it can reflect on how as a artist my work and can be developed I want the photos to have the sight of abstraction to them showing how the different photos can be made into one new photo. The colour scans show the representation of many different places i have been to with each photo showing something of my lifestyle.
